PSNK Basketball Drops PSUAC Contest at Home
The Penn State New Kensington Men's Basketball team (0-12, 0-11) fell to Penn State Brandywine (12-6, 9-2) 89-47 on Saturday afternoon at the PSNK Athletic Center.
Penn State New Kensington was able to keep in close early with strong a defensive effort by Shaquille Hager who had seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals on the day. Brandywine began to slowly break away late in the second half through clutch shooting from the floor and on the free throw line by Learon Pray. The Brandywine senior put up 34 points on the day to join teammates Brian Sarcinello and Frank McCusker as the trio who scored in double figures.
The New Ken Lions had a pair (Hager and Rashon Boone) who scored in double figures as well with 10 and 13 respectively.
In the second half, New Kensington and Brandywine traded buckets for the better part of five minutes, but a few costly turnovers by PSNK helped Brandywine to widen the gap.
The New Ken Lions weren't able to light up the scoreboard from beyond the arc as Dom Strapac was 1-7 from three point land and 3-12 from the floor. Strapac was 8-13 in three pointers during his last home game.
Penn State New Kensington will be back in action on Tuesday, January 22nd at 7 p.m. when they host Penn State Greater Allegheny.
