Penn State New Kensington Rallies Past Penn State Fayette in Wild 11–10 Victory
April 12 – New Kensington, PA — In a back-and-forth battle filled with momentum swings, clutch hits, and late-game drama, Penn State New Kensington came from behind to defeat Penn State Fayette, 11–10, in a thrilling Saturday matchup.
Fayette came out firing, jumping to a commanding 5–0 lead in the first inning. RBI singles by Remington Lessman, David Bilheimer, and a sac fly from James Knapton highlighted the early offensive burst. Fayette continued to apply pressure in the third and fourth innings, extending their lead to 9–4 behind timely hitting and a few New Kensington defensive miscues.
But the home team refused to go quietly.
New Kensington started to claw back in the third, with a productive groundout by Vaughn Gallicano and an RBI single by Chris Magnee helping to cut into the deficit. In the fourth, Jobeth Diaz Osorio ripped an RBI double, followed by a sixth-inning RBI double from Adrian Cruz to make it 9–6.
After Bilheimer's RBI double in the seventh gave Fayette a four-run cushion, New Kensington exploded for a five-run rally in the bottom half. Miguel Garcia delivered a clutch two-run double—his second of the game—before Bryan Calderon drove in another, and Cruz added a game-tying sacrifice fly to even the score at 10–10.
In the bottom of the ninth, Sean Walker came up with the biggest hit of the day, singling home Karter Weitzel for the walk-off win and completing the dramatic comeback.
On the mound, New Kensington used four pitchers to navigate the slugfest, with Ryan Clearwater earning the win after tossing two scoreless innings in relief.
