Lions Battle in Non-Conference Matchup at Waynesburg
WAYNESBURG, Pa. — November 11, 2025 – The Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team went on the road Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup at Waynesburg University, falling in a tightly contested game, 72-68, inside the Marisa Field House.
The Lions put together a strong offensive effort, led by Ta'Rasi Means, who poured in 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting while adding seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Myles Griffith followed with 19 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Donaven Johnson anchored New Kensington on the glass with nine rebounds and six assists, while Tobias Obel turned in a balanced performance of 12 points, eight boards, and two assists. Olawadara Idowu and Keith Rockmore added to the scoring effort, with Rockmore hitting a three-pointer off the bench.
As a team, the Lions shot 43.3% (26-for-60) from the field and 69.2% from the foul line, outrebounding Waynesburg 39-40 in a hard-fought battle on the boards.
Waynesburg was led by Scott Bilovus, who scored 20 points, while Aidan Blake added 17 points off the bench to help the Yellow Jackets edge out the win late.
Penn State New Kensington (0–2) will look to bounce back in its next outing as the Lions return home for their upcoming matchup.
