New Kensington Falls at Beaver, 62–47
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Penn State New Kensington men's basketball dropped a road contest Saturday afternoon, falling 62–47 to Penn State Beaver in PSUAC action.
The Lions stayed within striking distance early, trailing 39–30 at halftime, but struggled to generate offense in the second half as Beaver extended its lead behind efficient perimeter shooting.
Tobias Obel led New Kensington with a team-high 14 points, connecting on two three-pointers while playing all 40 minutes. Shane Peters posted a strong all-around effort, finishing with nine points and 12 rebounds, while Olwadara Idowu controlled the glass with a game-high 15 rebounds, adding eight points and a block.
Keith Rockmore Jr. added eight points and five rebounds, and Ta'Rasi Means contributed seven points and three assists for the Lions.
New Kensington shot 33.3 percent from the field and was limited to 3-of-21 shooting from beyond the arc. Despite the shooting struggles, the Lions won the rebounding battle 45–35, including 14 offensive rebounds, creating multiple second-chance opportunities.
Penn State Beaver was led by Jermaine Knaff and Joe Pinto, who each scored 16 points, combining to hit 8 three-pointers. Beaver finished the game shooting 33.3 percent from long range and used balanced scoring to maintain control throughout the second half.
