New Kensington Battles but Falls at Fayette, 89–74
LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team put together a competitive effort Wednesday night but came up short in an 89–74 loss to Penn State Fayette at the Community Center.
New Kensington stayed within reach throughout the contest behind strong perimeter shooting and solid individual performances. The squad shot an efficient 47.5 percent from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, keeping pressure on Fayette for much of the game.
Shane Peters led New Kensington with a team-high 24 points, adding five rebounds and three assists while providing a steady offensive presence. Keith Rockmore Jr. followed closely with 23 points, connecting on seven three-pointers and playing all 40 minutes. Tobias Obel added 16 points, while Olwadara Idowu contributed eight points and a team-best 10 rebounds.
Despite New Kensington's shooting success, Fayette capitalized on second-chance opportunities and ball movement to create separation in the second half. New Kensington continued to compete defensively but was unable to close the gap down the stretch.
The team will look to build on its offensive efficiency and rebounding effort as it prepares for its next contest.
