New Kensington Battles at Home Against Penn State Beaver
Penn State Beaver Pulls Away Late to Defeat Penn State New Kensington
Penn State New Kensington hosted Penn State Beaver on Saturday afternoon at PSNK, but the visitors' depth and efficiency proved too much to overcome in an 89–51 decision.
New Kensington competed early behind balanced scoring from the starting lineup. Jadyn Benson and Shane Peters each led the Lions with 13 points, while Keith Rockmore Jr. added 12 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting night. Olwadara Idowu was active on both ends, contributing eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Despite solid stretches of play, New Kensington struggled to keep pace with Beaver's offensive rhythm. Penn State Beaver shot 53.1% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range, using ball movement and perimeter shooting to steadily build separation as the game progressed.
Beaver placed six players in double figures, led by Jabari Gayle, who finished with a game-high 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Their bench provided a significant spark, outscoring New Kensington's reserves and maintaining pressure throughout the second half.
New Kensington battled on the glass, finishing with 32 rebounds, but turnovers and limited three-point shooting (1-of-8) made it difficult to close the gap as Beaver extended the lead late.
