Duncan returns with a goal
Men's Soccer Defends Home Turf with 2–1 Win Over Christendom
Penn State New Kensington men's soccer earned an impressive 2–1 victory over Christendom on Sunday afternoon, highlighted by a storybook return from James Duncan and a strong all-around team performance.
Duncan, making his first appearance back from injury, wasted no time making an impact. Just seconds after coming off the bench, he buried his first touch of the match in the 26th minute, finishing a corner from Dylan Shaw with his head to fire New Kensington into the lead.
The Lions doubled their advantage four minutes later when Jayson Ireland, who was dangerous throughout, slotted home in the 30th minute off a feed from Ethan Krystek.
Christendom responded in the second half with a goal from Ryan Welch in the 59th minute, but goalkeeper Kenton Knox and the PSNK defense stood tall the rest of the way to preserve the win.
New Kensington dictated play, outshooting Christendom 24–7, including 12–3 in shots on target. Ireland led the charge with six attempts and a goal, while Duncan's comeback strike lifted the team and the home crowd.
