Men's Soccer Spring Break In England
The Penn State New Kensington Men's Soccer program took full advantage of spring break with an unforgettable international experience, traveling to London and Liverpool for a week that blended elite soccer, cultural exploration, and competitive play.
A Global Soccer Experience
The trip provided student-athletes with the opportunity to immerse themselves in two of England's most iconic cities. While in London, the team visited world-famous landmarks including Big Ben and the Tower of London, experiencing firsthand the deep history and culture of the English capital.
In Liverpool, the group explored the vibrant waterfront and rich football heritage that makes the city one of the sport's most passionate hubs.
Touring Legendary Stadiums
A major highlight of the trip was visiting some of the most renowned football venues in the world. The team toured Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, and Wembley Stadium, the iconic venue of English football.
They also visited Hill Dickinson Stadium, gaining insight into a modern stadium development project and the future of the game at the professional level.
Experiencing the Game at the Highest Level
The team also had the chance to witness English football up close, attending three live matches. The group took in Fulham vs Southampton FA Cup match clash, along with league matchups between Stoke City FC and Ipswich Town FC, and Colchester United FC versus Crawley Town FC.
These experiences exposed players to the intensity, atmosphere, and passion that define the English game.
Competing Abroad
Beyond spectating, Penn State New Kensington stepped onto the field themselves, competing in two international friendlies. The team faced Neston Nomads FC in Liverpool, gaining valuable experience against international opposition.
In London, the Nittany Lions took on University of Westminster in fast-paced futsal matches, testing their technical ability and adaptability in a different format of the game.
